The upcoming Premier League season is set to deliver another thrilling spectacle. Just like every year, the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) attracts an increasing number of participants. Last season, there were 10.9 million FPL managers, and this season, that number is expected to exceed 12 million by the end.
With the addition of new managers, the competition keep getting getting tougher. Many are eager to know the best strategies or cheat sheet, common mistakes to avoid, and how to build a solid team that will remain reliable for several game weeks to come.
For new managers, this blog post serves as a guide on how to create a competitive squad that won’t require frequent changes in the upcoming game weeks.
Squad selection:
When selecting your team, you must choose 15 players, including 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, and 3 forwards.
Keep in mind that your budget is limited to £100m, and you must choose your players wisely. It’s crucial to avoid selecting injured or unlikely-to-play players.
To make the most of your budget, it’s essential to use it to its fullest potential, unless you plan to sign an expensive player in the coming weeks.
As you have a limited budget, your team should consist of a combination of top and bargain players.
Therefore, when creating a team, keep the next 2-3 weeks’ fixtures in mind to ensure you have players who are likely to perform well.
Team selection:
To form a complete team of 11 players, you must include one goalkeeper, at least three defenders, at least three midfielders, and at least one striker.
After selecting your team, it’s important to designate a captain and a vice-captain.
The captain’s score will be doubled, but if the captain doesn’t play any minutes, the vice-captain’s score will be doubled instead for that game week.
In case your captain is unable to play, a player from your bench will replace them in the starting lineup but will not be the captain or vice-captain.
Transfers:
Each game week, you have one free transfer available to make changes to your team. However, if you choose not to use this free transfer, the available transfers for the following game week will increase to two.
It’s important to note that the number of available transfers will not increase beyond two. Any unused transfer opportunities will be lost, so it’s important to use them wisely.
