Many FPL managers mix up between FPL budget players and FPL bargains. Some even use these terms interchangeably, which is not a big issue because most qualities of budget players and bargain players are similar.
But if you know the difference, it will for sure help you a lot in managing your teams better!
A low-priced player who starts regularly is a budget player in FPL.
I’ve listed the best budget players for each position in the links below (will update them throughout the season):
Now a bargain player is different from a budget player.
Qualities that make a player an absolute bargain in FPL are:
- They are undervalued.
- Their price is sure to go up as the season progresses.
- The 1st two qualities mean they will do really well in terms of points throughout the season.
In this blog, based on data and some other analysis, I’m going to recommend the top 10 bargains of FPL for the season 2022-23. Don’t be surprised if you see some expensive names on the list.
TOP 10 Fantasy Premier League Bargains:
1. Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal)
- Price at the start of the season: £6.0m
- Position: Midfielder
Gabriel Martinelli is a strong candidate for being considered the best bargain player in FPL.
Not only was his initial price at the start of the season relatively low at £6.0m, but his current price of £6.6m still represents good value given his performance on the pitch.
He is the top points scorer in his price range with 157 points.
Additionally, Martinelli’s impressive record of 13 goals and 5 assists in just 28 games is a clear indication of his potential to continue delivering strong performances throughout the season.
While his price has increased a lot, it is likely that it will continue to rise as he gains more recognition for his performances.
Overall, FPL managers looking for a bargain player who can provide consistent points throughout the season may want to consider Gabriel Martinelli as a strong option.
2. Ivan Toney (Brentford)
- Price at the start of the season: £7.0m
- Position: Forward
Ivan Toney tops our list of bargain players for several reasons.
Last season, in the Premier League, he scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists. This was a clear sign that he can be worth more than £6.9m value he ended the season with.
This season Toney has already scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists in the opening 28 games and his value currently is £7.9m.
Imagine him playing for Chelsea next season with a value under £10.0m!
For me, it will still be a bargain but for now he tops our list of bargain players for the numbers he have shown and there is a lot yet to be achieved by the Brentford striker.
We recommend signing Ivan Toney as a bargain forward for the following reasons:
- 2nd highest points scorer (145 points) among players of his value (£7.9m and under).
- fixtures difficulty doesn’t matter, he can score against any team.
- selected by only over 41.1% of managers. It’s a risk not winning his points!
Ivan Toney is also on our FPL budget forwards list because he matched our criteria of budget forward (price £7.0m and under) at the start of the season.
3. Alexander Isak (Newcastle United)
- Price at the start of the season: £7.0m
- Position: Forward
Alexander Isak meets all the criteria that make a player an absolute bargain in FPL.
Firstly, he is undervalued at his current price £6.7m. It went down from £7.0m because he has missed a lot of games due to injury.
Considering his impact in the last few games and the potential he has shown, his price is sure to go up as the season progresses.
Therefore, there is a high likelihood that he will do really well in terms of points in rest of the season, making him a good bargain player.
Isak has scored 3 goals in game week 27 and 28 and has a run of easy fixtures coming up between game week 29 and 34 with a maximum fixture difficulty of 3.
He is currently in only 3.2% of the teams, meaning that he is not widely owned by FPL managers. This presents a fantastic opportunity for FPL managers to add him to their team and potentially gain an advantage over other managers.
Moreover, as Isak’s ownership is expected to go up, it would be wise to add him to your team sooner rather than later.
He is a player who is way more valuable than his current price of £6.7m.
4. Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United)
- Price at the start of the season: £5.0m
- Position: Defender
Kieran Trippier is a strong contender for being considered a bargain player in FPL.
Starting the season at just £5.0m, his current price of £6.1m still represents good value, especially considering his impressive performance on the pitch.
As the top points scorer in his price range, with a total of 154 points, Trippier has demonstrated his potential as a reliable source of points for FPL managers.
Despite being a defender, Trippier has managed to score one goal and provide six assists in the opening 28 games of the season, an impressive feat that is a testament to his attacking prowess.
Additionally, his role in the team has allowed him to pick up bonus points and clean sheet points, which have also contributed to his impressive points tally.
Newcastle’s strong defense and exciting attack have also been instrumental in helping Trippier accumulate points.
As a result, FPL managers who are looking for a bargain player with the potential for consistent points may want to consider Kieran Trippier as a strong option.
His price may have increased slightly, but his potential for points and overall value still make him a worthwhile consideration for FPL managers.
5. Ben White (Arsenal)
- Price at the start of the season: £5.0m
- Position: Defender
Ben White could be considered a bargain player in FPL. Starting the season at just £4.5m, his current price of £4.7m still represents good value, especially considering his performance on the pitch.
As the top points scorer in his price range with a total of 121 points, White has proven himself as a reliable source of points for FPL managers.
Despite being a defender, White has managed to score one goal and provide three assists in the opening 28 games of the season, which is impressive considering his position on the pitch.
He has also been able to pick up clean sheet points and bonus points, thanks in part to his wider role in the team.
Arsenal’s strong defense and exciting attack have undoubtedly contributed to White’s points tally, and with the potential for more clean sheets and attacking returns in the coming weeks, he could continue to be a valuable asset for FPL managers.
Overall, while his price may have only increased slightly, Ben White’s potential for consistent points and overall value make him a worthwhile consideration for FPL managers looking for a bargain player.
6. Ben Mee (Brentford)
- Price at the start of the season: £5.0m
- Position: Defender
Ben Mee has the potential to be considered a good value pick for FPL managers, but whether or not he is a bargain player may depend on individual FPL managers’ strategies and budgets.
Starting the season at just £4.5m, his current price of £5.1m represents a significant increase, which could put off some FPL managers.
However, with a total of 121 points, Mee has demonstrated his ability to deliver consistent points returns. He has scored three goals and provided one assist in the opening 28 games of the season, which is an impressive return for a defender.
Additionally, clean sheets and bonus points have also contributed to Mee’s points tally. If Brentford can continue to perform well defensively, Mee could potentially accumulate more clean sheet points.
Overall, Mee has the potential to be a valuable asset for FPL managers who are looking for a reliable source of points from a defender.
7. Andreas Pereira (Fulham)
- Price at the start of the season: £4.5m
- Position: Defender
Andreas Pereira could be considered a bargain player in FPL. Despite starting the season at a price of £4.5m, his current price has actually decreased to £4.4m.
This represents good value for FPL managers, especially given his performance on the pitch.
Pereira is currently the top points-scoring midfielder in his price range, with a total of 100 points.
He has scored two goals and provided 10 assists in the opening 28 games of the season, which is an impressive return for a midfielder of such low value.
Furthermore, his price is likely to rise significantly given that it has already decreased.
This means that he could be a valuable asset for FPL managers who are looking for a budget-friendly option to free up funds for higher-priced players.
Overall, given his current price, points returns, and potential for assists, Andreas Pereira could be considered a bargain player in FPL and is certainly a player to consider for FPL managers looking for a budget-friendly midfield option.
8. Alexis Mac Allister (Brighton)
- Price at the start of the season: £5.5m
- Position: Midfielder
Priced initially at £5.5m, Alexis Mac Allister is a good bargain option.
He is one of those gem players somehow not catching the eyes of FPL managers. Even with the recent performances.
Mac Allister is one of our top recommended bargain players because of the following reasons:
- Overlooked in the presence of Mitoma and Groß.
- Has produced double-figure returns twice in the current season.
- Averaging 4.3 points a game.
- He is part of only 9.2% of FPL teams.
9. David Raya Martin (Brentford)
- Price at the start of the season: £4.5m
- Position: Goalkeeper
Raya currently is the best goalkeeper in Fantasy Premier League. The Brentford keeper has got some phenomenal numbers in the ongoing season.
We are recommending Raya as a bargain player for the following reasons:
- Raya is currently the highest points scorer among all goalkeepers.
- With an impressive 100+ saves under his belt, he holds the record for the most saves in the league till now.
- His upcoming fixtures look favorable, making him a reliable choice for future matches.
- At just £4.8m, Raya’s is seriously undervalued.
- He is averaging 4.4 points a game, which is massive for a goalkeeper.
10. Leandro Trossard (Arsenal)
- Price at the start of the season: £4.5m
- Position: Goalkeeper
Trossard is currently the third top points-scoring midfielder in his price range, with a total of 127 points.
He has scored eight goals and provided nine assists in the opening 28 games of the season, which is a respectable return for a midfielder.
It is worth noting, however, that Trossard’s recent consistent points-scoring form has been a contributing factor in Arsenal’s recent run of wins.
Overall, while Trossard may not necessarily be an absolute bargain player in FPL, he could still be considered a decent value for money option for FPL managers looking for a mid-priced midfielder with potential for consistent points returns.
