Best Mid-Priced Midfielders in FPL (2025/26 Season)

Everyone knows Salah, Haaland, Cole Palmer, and Saka are the big names in Fantasy Premier League (FPL). That’s why they’re in almost every top team.

But the real challenge — and where great FPL managers shine — is finding mid and low-priced gems. Players like Mohammed Kudus or Rayan Cherki can deliver big points and match the performance of the most expensive players.

Picking the right midfielders in the mid-price range can easily take you from being better than 50% of managers to being in the top 25%. The rest depends on choosing the right captain, playing your chips wisely, and avoiding injuries.

In this post, we list some of the best mid-priced midfielders (generally between £6.5m–£8.5m) who could be surprise point scorers this season.

⚠️ We’ll keep updating this list throughout the season because there are always surprises as the season starts and progresses — remember players like Lundstram, Dele Alli, or Harry Kane once started as budget options and exploded?

1. Mason Mount – £7.0m – Man United

After a difficult season at Chelsea followed by an underwhelming debut at Manchester United, Mount is now looking to finally settle and make his mark at Old Trafford.

If Amorim gives him an attacking role, Mount has the skills to score 150–200 points easily. He was Chelsea player of the year twice.

He has Premier League experience, takes set-pieces, and at £6.0m, could be a high reward hidden gem pick with relatively low risk.

2. Mohammed Kudus – £6.5m – Spurs

Kudus had a strong debut season with West Ham and now moves to a more attacking team in Tottenham.

He’s full of energy, takes on defenders, and is capable of scoring or assisting against any team. At £7.0m, Kudus could be one of the breakout stars this year.

If he nails down a starting spot, don’t hesitate — jump on early.

3. Jack Grealish – £6.5m – Man City

His minutes went down in the last 2 seasons but so did his price which was previously at 6.5m

If Grealish gets regular minutes, £6.5m is a steal for a City attacker. Monitor his minutes early in the season.

4. Luis Díaz – £8.0m – Liverpool

Luis Díaz has now completed four seasons at Liverpool, and the 2024/25 campaign was by far his best.

He scored 13 goals, provided 8 assists, and racked up 183 FPL points — proving he can deliver consistent returns when fit and trusted.

At £8.0m, he’s a bit pricier than before, but considering Liverpool’s attacking style and Díaz’s growing influence on the left wing, he’s well worth the investment.

If he stays injury-free and keeps his starting spot under Arne Slot, this could be his biggest season yet. Keep an eye on his early form — he might just become an essential pick.

5. Phil Foden – £8.0m – Man City

Foden is a tricky one. He scored 7 goals and got 3 assists last season, but played only 1,771 minutes due to Pep’s rotation.

The upside? He’s listed as a midfielder (not forward), which means extra points for goals and clean sheets.

Still a risk because of rotation, but when he starts, he delivers. Great option for risk-takers.

6. Rayan Cherki – £6.5m – Man City

The young French talent recently signed with Man City and could be the next breakout star under Pep Guardiola.

Cherki is skillful, creative, and known for flair. While it may take time for him to earn regular minutes, watch him closely — he could become a game-changer at a bargain price.

Early on, he’s more of a differential or wild-card pick, but the potential is huge.

7. Anthony Elanga – £7.0m – Newcastle United

Elanga has quietly moved to Newcastle and could be a massive bargain.

He’s quick, loves to take on defenders, and has Premier League experience from Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.

At just £7.0m, he’s a budget enabler with potential to surprise. If he gets game time, he’s a fantastic fifth midfielder.

8. James Maddison – £7.0m – Spurs

Maddison is a standout pick in this price range. In his best season, he scored 12 and assisted 11 goals (181 points).

He’ll be a key player at Spurs, especially with more freedom under Thomas Frank’s pragmatic, adaptable, and analytically driven attacking system.

Maddison takes free-kicks and corners and is involved in everything going forward. A must-consider pick.
